Ringleader Sheryl
Macross Frontier

Photographer
Why I chose to make this costume:
Sheryl Nome from Macross Frontier is one of my favorite singing idols to dress up as, and I couldn’t pass up her 10 year anniversary Ringleader outfit! It’s so sparkly and bright, and has so many fun elements to it!

How I made this costume:
I made this costume in about a week, full crunch mode, and it only got done because @mimicrycosplay 3D modeled the gold accessories for me, then @_bild_er_leben_ resin printed and painted them in Germany while I was sewing away in the United States. In true cosplay crunch fashion, I picked up the bits the day before the photoshoot and attached them to my costume lmao! They add such a chic charm to the entire outfit!
Regarding the construction, I used a lot of materials from my very large craft stash, such as the now discontinued red Ultrapreme from @cosplayfabrics, leftover pink fabric from Ai Hoshino, white matte brushed satin for the jacket, leftover sateen from Lan Wangji, all the gold trims and chains, and even the pink ostrich feathers from my cosplay photo set decorations lol!
The pink boots are repurposed from Lynn Minmay which is super appropriate since both as Macross characters. I personally like the pale pink color more since it makes my legs looks longer 👍
I mainly had to buy the sheet organza for the skirt and orange feathers, which I painted a gradient and made the bum wings and such out of. I spent a good day hand sewing snaps and velcro so everything is detachable for transport. I also made the little white hat and cut the wig a bit.
Thoughts on this costume:
These gorgeous photos are by @_bild_er_leben_ taken at a cosplay studio in Germany! My Manager-san Grace O’Connor is @kukkiicos who also made her costume from scratch!
Hoping more people will watch Macross Frontier now that it has an English license and get to know our queen Sheryl!
