Why I chose to make this costume:
For TNT 15, my friends in Mexico asked me make a Senshi outfit for a big group they were planning. Choosing Mars made perfect sense to me—not only do I look the most like her out of the Senshi, but Rei has always been my favorite. Oh, and I am an Aries as well haha. Anyway, geekiness aside, I thought it would be a good time for me to finally cosplay from Sailor Moon.
How I made this costume:
I chose a very thick solid satin with organza for the sleeves and underskirt and used two layers of white lycra to make the bodysuit. Sewing the costume was a breeze. Ordering the boots took two tries though, after the first pair arrived in Winter White—meaning totally beige. I do love how the Senshi all have short-skirt-flattering heeled boots on—you can truly see that the manga creator was involved in fashion design! I also made a pair of wings to wear with my costume.
Thoughts on this costume:
Doing the group was a lot of fun—I couldn't believe how many of us there were! Then my friends Hannah, Steph and Joie were all going to have Eternal costumes for AX so it only made sense to join them! We even found a cute Moon to pose with. I hope we can do this again soon and have the chance to take some really good photos and not resort to snapping some quick con shots.
