JASMIN SYNN

Archangel

Why I chose to make this costume:

I was approached by Museum Replicas to play the villain Jasmin Synn in the Steampunk Adventure series "Archangel from the Winter Chronicles." I loved the story and the proposal for me to not only play the character, but to also design and make the costume.

How I made this costume:

After a lot of brainstorming with the Archangel team, I decided to design this costume with a sinister but elegant feel. The jacket was the centerpiece, and I spent a long time drafting the pattern and really working on the fit and tailoring of it. I used 5 different fabrics on this jacket, including a purple silk for the lining. I've never used silk as lining before, but it was a great opportunity to add a pop of color and femininity to the outfit. The asymmetrical collar is constructed with foam and encased in matching fabric and each feather is carefully glued on. The collar snaps onto the jacket and is offset with the Worbla bracer and shoulder pad. The bodice is Dupioni silk with coutil and steel boning, and I sewed all of the trimmings on. Lastly, I also made the pleather pants!

Thoughts on this costume:

I'm really happy with how the Jasmin Synn outfit turned out! This is truly a cosplayer's dream come true—to be a part of a creative series and get hands on with the crafting and portrayal of a character. Make sure to follow Archangel for sneak peeks and info on episode releases!
